Northwest Aerospace News magazine ready for take – off from Spokane
SPOKANE VALLEY – A Spokane – area publishing business is confident its new venture will fly high.
Top Drawer Media is preparing the first edition of Northwest Aerospace News for its launch in the new year.
The magazine will focus on a vital – but often – overlooked – sector of the aerospace industry: nearly 2,000 small and mid – sized companies across the Northwest that provide crucial parts and services to manufacturers like Bo eing, as well as the airline industry, private airplane owners and the fast – growing drone and space manufacturing industries .
Those companies – including more than 100 in Spokane County — make up North America’s largest aerospace industry cluster and they will be the focus of the new magazine, said Dean Cameron, the CEO of Top Drawer Media and the magazine’s editor and publisher.
Cameron said the magazine, which will publish six times a year, aims to exploit an underserved niche.
“The big trade publications and global news media do a good job of covering what happens at Boeing, Airbus and the other big original – equipment manufacturers,” Cameron said. “But very few write about the companies at the Tier 2 and Tier 3 levels of the supply chain, the ones that provid e the detailed parts and specialty services that get jets, drones and rockets off the ground and keep them flying, even though these are some of the most – interesting and innovative companies our industry has.”
There is also a business opportunity , given th e growth in Boeing and Airbus jet production, as well as the expansion of the drone and space industries. All that is causing great demand for aerospace parts and services, Cameron said.
“There are a lot of challenges and big growth opportunities for aeros pace suppliers right now, but it’s hard for these companies to connect with each other,” he said. “ Aerospace companies employ almost 3 ,500 people in Spokane County, but If you’re a supplier here , it doesn’t always make sense to spend a lot of money to trav el to one of the big international trade shows in Dubai or Paris, or to buy ads in one of the global aerospace trade magazines.”
Northwest Aerospace News will help bridge that gap, he said. “Our stories will help you learn about potential customers, collab orators or competitors, and our advertising will help you get your message out in front of decision – makers who need to find your kind of product or service.”
The magazine will publish its first issue in February. For more information about the magazine and its advertising rates – or to request a free subscription — go to
